are pioneers in their field who have developed innovative surgical techniques to address an array of colon and rectal diseases and conditions.

Ana Maria Garza, M.D.

AnaMaria Garza, M.D., is board certified in general and colorectal surgery with a strong interest in women’s colorectal health and the prevention of colorectal cancer. She graduated with her medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. She completed her internship and residency training at USC, as well as a one-year research fellowship at the John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica. Dr. Garza then extended her training and completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at USC.

Dr. Garza was the recipient of several honors and awards during her training to include Outstanding Resident of the Year, Administrative Chief Resident, Excellence in Teaching Award, and the Dean’s Scholar Award for two years, all at the University of Southern California. In addition, she was the recipient of the Dr. Rodolpho Montes Memorial Scholarship and the MacKenzie’s Scholarship, both at the University of Southern California’ Keck School of Medicine.

Dr. Garza joined the USC faculty in 2008 where she was Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery in the Keck School of Medicine’s Department of Surgery until 2011. In 2009, the Colorectal Surgery Institute at Glendale Memorial Hospital was developed, where she now practices with Dr. Robert Beart and Dr. Petar Vukasin. In addition to her work at the Colorectal Surgery Institute, Dr. Garza remains true to her interest in women’s colorectal health and the prevention of colorectal cancer by actively participating and lecturing at community organizations and meetings.

Her association with academic centers, along with specialized training in colorectal surgery allows her to extend the latest, most advanced techniques and research availabilities to the surgical care of her patients.
